Omena Historical Museum 2015 Summer Class Schedule
Make your very own locally grown basket! Using Leelanau-grown pine needles and grasses, traditional weaving techniques will be learned and applied to create a small basket, trivet, bracelet, or all three! Join multimedia artist Sarah Chenault to learn how to “coil” a sweetgrass basket in two 2-hour class sessions. All materials will be provided. Please bring your own scissors to class and a check in the amount of $25.00 made payable to Sarah Chenault. Sarah K. Chenault is a multimedia artist from Texas living in Los Angeles and she frequents her beloved Omena as much as possible. She received her BFA in Sculpture from Washington University in St. Louis and MA in Latin American Studies from UCLA. From living abroad in Spain and Colombia she learned the gratification and fun that came from integrating her creative abilities with cultural studies and has since aimed to use these two in her career.
