Thursday Evening Authors (TEA): Rachel May

Rachel May, from the faculty of Northern Michigan University in Marquette, Michigan, will be the first TEA guest at Dog Ears. May is the author of An American Quilt: Unfolding a Story of Family and Slavery. A quilter as well as assistant professor of English, May lays out a history and description of American quilting and also explores, via archived letters and documents and visits to historic sites in various parts of the U.S., the complicated story of slavery in our country. Much of what she discovers surprises her and will surprise her readers and audience, as well. May’s visit will be on on Thursday, June 21.

Dog Ears Books celebrates its 25th anniversary year with Thursday Evening Authors, TEA for short, a literary series to begin on June 21 and continue through August. Thursday guest authors will be at the bookstore from 7 to 9 p.m. on scheduled appearance dates.
