Leelanau UnCaged
Northport’s first Leelanau UnCaged street festival will be held on Saturday, September 28th from 10am to 10pm.
John Cage (1912 – 1992) was an American composer, choreographer and philosopher. Now he has inspired a celebration of Leelanau musical and artistic talent of all persuasions.
The main streets of downtown Northport will be closed for the day to provide walking access to all venues. There will be more than 25 musical acts performing folk, rock, jazz, reggae, classical, and drumming. Visual arts, poetry and dance will fill the streets. In addition to the restaurants and bars, local produce and foods will be in the offering.
There will be something for all ages on Saturday, September 28th when the creative talents and tastes of Leelanau will be uncaged. As John Cage said, “Get yourself out of whatever cage you find yourself in.”
Admission is free, thanks to generous support from the Leelanau Township Community Foundation, the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians, and the Village of Northport.
